Source – Baltimore Ravens fined $ 250,000 by the NFL for the COVID-19 outbreak

BALTIMORE – The Baltimore Ravens were fined $ 250,000 by the NFL for the recent COVID-19 outbreak, but avoided losing out on the draft selection, a source in the league confirmed.

This discipline is less severe than others the league has imposed this season. The New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans were each fined $ 350,000, and Las Vegas Raiders and New Orleans Saints were both fined $ 500,000 and stripped of a draft (the Raiders lost the selection of the sixth round and the saint’s seventh round).

The source added that the NFL fine is an addition to the discipline imposed by Ravens. Baltimore suspended its strength and conditioning trainer Steve Saunders for not always wearing a mask and contact tracing device at the facility.

Last month, Ravens‘ team dealt with one of the largest outbreaks of disease in professional sports. At least one player in Baltimore has tested positive for 10 consecutive days and two of its matches have been rescheduled multiple times as a result.

The Ravens placed a total of 23 players on the Reserve / COVID-19 roster from November 23 to December 2, including the NFL MVP. Lamar Jackson, Who tested positive on Thanksgiving. The NFL informed the team that „at least four unique strains“ of COVID-19 were found inside their facility during the outbreak.

This resulted in the Ravens‘ game against the Steelers being postponed three times and their game against the Cowboys twice postponed.

„From the start, we took the virus very seriously,“ Ravens chief Dick Cass said in a statement earlier this month. „… Despite our best efforts, the protocol is only as effective as our weakest link. With a dangerous virus like this, everyone must comply with the protocol to avoid infecting many. We know now that not everyone in Ravens followed the protocol carefully.“
