Amazon Assistant can now turn on the robot’s vacuum or turn off smart lights all on its own. Yes, I heard that well.
Amazon Advertise Last September, there will be an update coming soon that will allow Alexa to act on her hunch about the way your connected devices behave in your home – turn off the smart lamp in a room after a long period of your sleep, for example. Usually, Hunches works by only letting Alexa suggest solutions to these discovered problems. But now, Alexa users can choose to let the smart assistant do the same.
Intuition is enabled by default, although Alexa will work on how to disable the feature after explaining your first intuition. To access your Hunches preferences, Open the Alexa app And the Select the „more“ option From the menu at the bottom of the screen. Specify Settings, Scroll down and tap gut instinct.
This was especially interesting to me, the owner of the connected coffee maker. Sure, as I thought, this has the potential to skew terribly if Alexa goes rogue and starts brewing my coffee the next morning in the middle of the night – only slowly I run out of my ground coffee stock.
But as of today, the feature is limited to smart locks, lights, plugs, and thermostats. If you have another device connected, though, the spokesperson said users „may start receiving Hunches from Alexa depending on how you use the normally connected devices.“
For now, my coffee appears to be safe. So help me if this robot starts to slowly retreat from what is left of my mind.
